The MSC ship was very nice, the rooms were roomy enough and were well-equipped with space to put all our things (though I brought extra hangars and I am glad I did). The food was good, as were the activities, and I appreciated that the staff on board were from all over the world, as were the guests. The private island owned by MSC was nice but I was disappointed that there was nothing to see when we snorkeled. The shore excursions we booked through Cruise Planners were good, as well. The tequila tour and tasting was great, but the snorkeling not so much. Enjoyed the ride around the island.

This past cruise was 11 nights and I did book 3 excursions with cruise planners and had a really great time. Mary makes it so easy to plan and book a cruise. This past cruise Mary got us a Jr suite on the rear and it was a end room and we had no idea the balcony wrapped around the side of the ship, it was a really big balcony. There are only 4 of these rooms on the Vision of the seas.

My Bahamas trip from March 12 - 17, 2022 truly was more than I had hoped. It was wonderful. This was my first experience on a cruise. It was so much fun to wake up every morning and be on the balcony over-seeing the ocean, watching the sun rise, and sun set. American Cruise Line - Queen of the Mississippi I must tell you that the Mississippi River cruise was a marvelous success. My daughter and her husband drove us over to the Intercontinental Hotel and dropped us off there. As we registered the desk clerk provided us with an envelope which contained all the essential information we needed to be boarded the next morning. A shuttle bus hauled us, and our baggage to the boarding area where we were checked aboard and quickly found our state room where within a few minutes our baggage joined us. The state room was at the minimum four star and was marvelously close to the dining area. Housekeeping was efficient and invisible. Rules and procedures were well defined on a welcome page we found in the room. I did not keep notes of the menu, we had a lunch which could very well have been an adequate dinner the first day. All the service help we encountered were well trained, courteous, young people. Seating in the dining room was open so that we met a great many of the fellow passengers. With eight chairs at each table we did not dine with all 200 some passengers during the trip, but we did meet many interesting and a few boring people. The menu was varied, there was enough variety that the pickiest diner could hardly complain. We have eaten at several restaurants I would consider superior, but we had no grounds for complaint for any of the meals unless it was that the servings were too generous! I quickly learned that ordering half a meal was just about right. Breakfast could be selected from a large collection at the breakfast bar or special ordered from the kitchen. Lunch and dinner were ordered from the menu, a bottle of white and one of red wine were on the table for lunch and dinner. I am no wine connoisseur but believe the quality of what I tasted was certainly better than ordinary. Excursions shore were provided at each of the landings. I had reconciled myself to not making any of the excursions but my wife went on each and was well entertained and enjoyed the opportunities. One of the other passengers had rented a scooter for the trip and found that the bus drivers were accustomed to handling scooters. I brought my Rotator and navigated the boat easily from 1st to 5th deck using the elevator. At 5:30 PM every day there was an open bar at one end of the second deck where almost everyone showed up for their favorite toddy and snacks. The dining room opened for dinner promptly at 6:30 PM so that with one or two people serving the bar the line was long enough that no one could manage more than a couple of drinks resulting in only a few people being "noisy". The evening entertainment ranged from outstanding to pedestrian. The first night was really exceptional, three young ladies who style themselves the "Dixie Chicks" sang songs that were very appropriate for the age group aboard. The comedian who entertained us one night was quite good, her jokes were all clean and again appropriate in my opinion for the age group. Several nights we enjoyed instrumental trios, in fact, the dance floor was crowded both of those nights. One night a Cajun group performed and I must admit that, in my opinion, Cajun music is scarcely a notch better than bagpipe music. Quite a few afternoons we had the option of spending time with "Mike" I'm sorry I didn't write down his name. He was an interesting speaker, well-versed on Mississippi River history, birds, and was able to answer almost all the questions his audiences had. I would have liked to go to the wheelhouse but the elevator didn't run that high. I did manage to have a small conversation with The Mate concerning engines and speed etc. My suspicions were confirmed and I am afraid I disappointed my wife when I demonstrated that the axle for the paddle-wheel had no power connection on either end. The boat is propelled by underwater jet nozzles, a lot quieter and smoother than paddle-wheel drive and the navigation flexibility would permit the boat to turn end for end. The room television had one channel devoted to the GPS. Information about speed and heading appear on the screen along with a boat icon which showed the location on the river itself. Going upstream the maximum speed I observed was 10.3 miles per hour. When we turned around and headed back to New Orleans the speed was 15 or so miles per hour. In one of his lectures Mike pointed out that on inland waterways speed was never measured in knots but in miles per hour. The last day aboard we were given some tags for our bags and instructed to leave them outside our stateroom door before 6:30 AM. My wife found the baggage and my daughter and husband who came to pick us up and the adventure was over. I would not hesitate to take another cruise with that company nor would I hesitate recommending the cruise to anyone although it is obviously packaged for well to do retirees. JH

My First Cruise As my first Cruise approached I was getting slightly apprehensive about a few things others had told me. But Mary answered all my questions even when I asked the same question over and again. She also stayed current and saved me every discount I became eligible for. Punta Cana Trip, June 2014 Good Friday morning Mary. On behalf of my wife, Betty and me, thanks for the "welcome back." I'm taking the liberty to respond to your e-mail in which you asked her to give you her "take" of the trip to Dominican Republic/Punta Cana during this past week of June 3-10, 2014. If we had to sum up the trip in just one word, that word would be "FANTASTIC, SUPERB, EXCELLENT." (Oops! That's three words isn't it? Oh well, sue me as there's no other way to describe it.) The trip from start to finish (airport accommodation and air travel included) was enjoyed by our entire group from the youngest member to the eldest. The entire trip went without a "hitch." The overall experience derived from the trip taken last year by us to Montego Bay, Jamaica pale in comparison to this year's trip even though last year's trip was great in itself. This year's resort, Catalonia Bravado, was well worth "the price of admission" with its vast number of restaurants and cuisine. Its vast property and ventures were never fully visited by our group as it would probably take another trip or two to see and enjoy it all. The room accommodation and hotel services were second to none. In other words, first class. Mary, all of this of course add to your incredible credentials as an excellent travel agent in helping us with all of our travel arrangements, travel experience and decision making.
