I do wish to acknowledge Jim Austin and his efforts. The trip ( ex volcano ) was fabulous and I cannot imagine what a pain it is to plan it all out and keep 41 travelers not only happy, but ecstatic. Everything worked out as we had hoped and that is due to all of Jim’s hard work.
More importantly was Jim’s leadership when it all went to heck. Can you imagine 41 travelers stranded in a foreign country with no idea of when planes would fly or where we would stay while we waited?
Jim led us through the confusion, negotiated free rooms for two nights, free meals, got a bus to get everyone to Liberia and back to the states. He also got JetBlue to issue refunds as well as future flight credits. Way to go Jim ! I have always believed that leadership is defined in moments of crisis, and Jim certainly exemplified all of those qualities ! Hip Hip Hooray!!!!
