Wan·der·lust - a deep desire to explore and enjoy the world.
I'm thrilled to share with you my journey of Wanderlust, an adventure that started camping in the forest and has taken me to the far reaches of the globe.
At the tender age of 10, I found my passion for adventure during two unforgettable weeks at camp, learning horseback riding, crafts, and campfire songs. While others were counting down the days until pickup, I was plotting how to extend my stay. Little did I know, this was just the beginning of a lifelong love affair with exploration.
By fifteen, I took my cowgirl spirit to the next level, embarking on a solo trip to a summer riding camp in the foothills of the Bighorn National Forest in Wyoming. Funded by countless bake sales and babysitting gigs, I paid my own way for my first ever plane ride and I experienced the thrill of a pack trip into the wilderness on horseback, setting the stage for my growing appetite for adventure.
A pivotal moment occurred during my senior year of high school when a Japanese exchange student sparked my interest in the world beyond my small town. This encounter led to becoming an exchange student myself, jetting off to the Netherlands in the summer of '83. The exchange student experience would shape my life by connecting me with a host family that has become my second family over four decades.
Driven by Wanderlust, I took a leap of faith and moved to Germany with my husband, embracing the challenge of a new language and immersing ourselves in European culture while expand our careers, mine in photography his woodworking and design.Living abroad for four years, we filled our passports with stamps, explored like locals and made life long friends – all while capturing the moments through my lens.
Returning home, I establish my commercial photography studio with a focus on food, product and travel photography. Wanderlust was never far from my thoughts even after we started our family. We have taken many amazing trips with our three children to the Netherlands, France, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, Panama, Puerto Rico and around the United States. Our kids have Wanderlust too it’s in their genes!
It has not been ALL globe-trotting for me I have stayed put long enough to get my hands dirty working for the Chester County Food Bank in gardens education, program development and fundraising. Super rewarding work which has allowed me to use my project management, community building and creative story telling skills. My career has also taken me to the corporate world working in business development, event planning and content creation.
Working as a travel advisor I have had the dream assignment of escorting a group to the Galapagos Island for a photo expedition. Yes, that was amazing and to top it off my father traveled with me on that trip. Years later he returned the favor and took me on a photo Safari to Africa. Wonderful adventures of a lifetime, we often muse on how fortunate we have been to have shared this time together surrounded by incredible wildlife and the most beautiful nature.
I consider myself a fortunate wanderer, having gone many places and done many things with my Wanderlust. I'm passionate about meeting new people, learning new things and exploring the world we live in. It would be my pleasure to share the journey with you and help plan your Wanderlust Travels.
Let's talk soon and turn your travel dreams into reality.
