Our Caribbean and Amazon Adventure on Viking is a trip to remember. We loved it.
Our only snafu was our National Airlines charter back to Miami hit a vulture on takeoff at 1,500 feet, which damaged one engine badly enough for us to empty our fuel, then head back to Manaus. Had to spend a night, along with 300 other passengers at Novotel Manaus. It was awful. Rooms much worse than a college dorm. Black mold in shower and bugs. Bad food.

Was somewhat disappointed with the ship service, and entertainment. My first time on Holland, and after speaking to many Holland travelers, the first day, it was nice to hear their comments. After a few days into the cruise, some of the Holland travelers said this was the worst they’ve ever been on. It appeared that it was possible they could’ve been understaffed. Many of the tables one evening at the buffet line were completely covered with dirty dishes. Two times in the dining room did not receive what we had ordered. I personally thought the entertainment was below par. And I also felt that every place you turned, they were wanting more money. I thought the bingo was expensive and adding the deal or no deal was definitely not worth what you paid with only two people having a chance to be on stage. The jewelry store,, was almost a joke. After spending quite a bit of money, and coming back for the grand prize drawings to the select buyers, was an absolute insult! Offering a little stuffed teddy bear and a replica of a Holland ship.? Was an absolute slap in the face . For the price we paid for our cruise, I would not do it again, with the quality of service we received.- Nancy S.

Viking does a very good job overall on many things, but they are not perfect. Michael Consoli has been instrumental in making things better, whether it was flight itineraries (especially the European Christmas Markets River Cruise we just completed this past weekend), specific stateroom requests, or changing travel dates. Michael has always provided same-day responses that let us make needed adjustments/corrections as they came up. He has added value to our trips any time we have asked for his help. Don’t usually use a travel agent because I’m very hands on and impatient, but Micheal and Cruise Planners did a great job on my Viking River Cruise booking!
