The MSC Meraviglia debuted in June, launching MSC’s Meraviglia generation of ships. Cruise Planners VP of Sales and Marketing, Theresa Scalzitti, was one of the first to sail on the MSC Meraviglia, joining an inaugural sailing and attending both the MSC Travel Agent Advisory Board meeting and Christening Ceremony. Scalzitti shares her experience on board this new ship which will be sailing the Mediterranean throughout its inaugural season.
This was my first time onboard an MSC ship and I loved my experience. In Italian, Meraviglia means “the feeling of wonder and amazement,” much like our very own Cruisitude.
Around the ship there were several lounges, dining venues and meeting places and the ship’s English-speaking staff and crew were all very friendly, making us feel welcome everywhere on board. Travelers will enjoy the relaxed feel and the modern amenities of a large cruise ship. It’s perfect for families, groups and people of all ages and adventure levels.

The ship’s décor is stylish and contemporary décor. One of the décor highlights is the beautiful Swarovski crystal staircase – it’s a beautiful backdrop for photos in your formal wear. The MSC Meraviglia features a promenade area with a huge domed LED ceiling. The ceiling is constantly rotating between colors, dinosaurs, planets, colored jewels and even iconic destination scenes such as the Sistine Chapel. Everyone stops and admires the view!
The food on board captures the Mediterranean spirit of MSC, with freshly sliced meats and homemade mozzarella available for lunch and dinner. Not to mention the homemade pizzas on board which were fantastic. The ship has 12 dining venues and three specialty restaurants, each with their own flair and flavors:
