Being an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner gives Cruise Planners exclusive first looks at all things new at Disney. This summer, Cruise Planners attended the grand opening ceremony of the Gran Destino Tower at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. Gran Destino Tower takes its name from the surrealistic Disney animated film “Destino.” From first glance to walking through the lobby, it’s obvious Disney’s architects cast their magic, once again.

Whether you are staying at the Coronado Springs Resort or the Tower itself, you will check-in at the all-new Grand Destino tower. When you step foot in the ominous two-story lobby, you’re welcomed by roaming Disney cast members with iPads, ready to start your check-in experience. From the front lobby, you are then escorted to a comfortably decorated lounge space to complete the process. From couches to chairs to desk space, there are a variety of purpose-built areas for you to use—you won’t feel overwhelmed with other guests completing the process as there is plenty of open space to use. Within just a few minutes they have you checked in, equipped with your MagicBand (aka room key/park pass) and on your merry way to the room for some much-needed R&R.

Fit with 16 floors and 545 guest rooms, the Gran Destino Tower is ready for all to enjoy. The tower's rooms reflect modern style, with wooden accents and warm colors evoking Spanish themes as seen throughout the entire tower. Wall-to-ceiling windows overlook either the Park Side or Lake Side, which offer great views of the lake and fountain, with the possibility of the Magic Kingdom far off in the distance (not to forget the perfect view of the fireworks show if you leave the park early). Clean, spacious and contemporary notes capture the essence of the guest rooms.
There are several restaurants within the tower for all the foodies out there:
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is great for a variety of travelers including convention attendees who count for a substantial portion of the resort’s guests. There are now three new pathways that connect over the water and these footbridges merge at the overwater Three Bridges Bar & Grill. The bridges are also function and offer guests a quick route from the tower to the Coronado Springs Convention Center over the lake – in the past you had to walk around the large lake.
See what our Director of Corporate Communications & Digital Strategy, Caitlin Gardner, has to say onsite the three bridges:
