CP Cares Jumps in Helping Kids Get Back-To-School Ready at SOS Children’s Village Coconut Creek

2019 back-to-school season is in full effect. Annually, CP Cares makes a team effort to ensure local children are ready and equipped to take on the new school year. 

Shoe Donations Pile Up at Cruise Planners HQ 

The shoe drive was welcomed with overwhelming support. CP Cares original goal was to accumulate 34 pairs of shoes.  By the end of the drive, CP Home Office Team collected a total of 52 new pairs of shoes and more than 225 new pairs of socks—enough to provide 2 pairs of shoes and multiple pairs of socks for each child in the village to start off the new school year.  

What’s Needed this School Year?

This year in an effort to gather useful items that was truly in demand, we contacted the SOS Children’s Village directly to coordinate what the kids needed for the new school year. The village noted they had plenty of donations of backpacks, writing supplies and notebooks—what they still needed were new shoes and socks of varying sizes specific to each child. With that info CP Cares joined forces and compiled lists, send out emails and began the shoe drive at the Home Office Team.

“Sending them off to school with new sneakers makes them feel included and just like all their friends in school—they can be proud and show off their new kicks during recess while making new friends.” Says Vicky Garcia, COO and Co-Owner of Cruise Planners. 

Cruise Planners HOT's generous efforts gives children in foster care an opportunity to have a pep in their step for back to school and fit in with their peers (and/or maybe even join a sports team!). 

Tradition of Giving Back – Years of Setting Up Kids for Success

Last year, CP Cares donated hundreds of school supplies, backpacks and more with generous donations from the Home Office Team and Cruise Planners travel advisors. Locally, many advisors also donate to their local schools, nonprofits and more to continue to spread Cruisitude.

For children who have lost their family and been separated from their siblings, something as simple as a pair of shoes or a backpack can make a BIG difference. Everyone who donates makes an impact on these children’s lives. Giving back and supporting the community is central to what we do at Cruise Planners and we’re proud to support local kids ringing in the new school year.
