Travel Agent details about Road Town

Road Town is just one of the forty or so British Virgin Islands that lie sprinkled in the path of friendly trade winds. Measuring a mere twenty-one square miles, this island is the largest in this unspoiled archipelago. Though frarant frangipani fills the air, Tortola is proper and British through and through.

Activities

Take a stroll along Main Street and through the Joseph Reynold O'Neal Botanic Gardens near the police station. The peaceful gardens feature tropical and subtropical plants, including ferns and orchids. The island is noted for its beautiful beaches. The best ones are along the north coast and toward West End. You may want to try Cane Garden Bay or Long Bay. Both require a taxi ride. The wreck of the RMS Rhone is very popular with diving enthusiasts. The 310-foot vessel served as a royal mail ship and sank during a hurricane in 1867. The RMS Rhone has been declared a National Marine Sanctuary. It also served as the backdrop to the adventure movie, The Deep.
