During the period 1764-1767, Captain James Cook surveyed the Bay of Islands, naming the river the River Hamberg. The Corner Brook Stream Trail winds through the centre of the city, following the meandering Corner Brook Stream. The trail is groomed, including gravel, stairs and footbridges. One of the highlights of the trail system is the Glynmill Inn Pond, where a family of swans makes their home and benches offer a place to take a rest and enjoy the peaceful scene. This hockey shrine pays tribute to those who contributed to the rich history of the game in our province. See exhibits honouring players from Newfoundland and Labrador who have made it to the top level of hockey - the NHL and the now defunct World Hockey Association. Photos and biographies of all Hall of Fame members are also displayed.
