We LOVE to travel! Our love for exploring led us to start a travel agency so that we can help others explore the world, too. We have traveled extensively to increase our knowledge so that we can share our first-hand experiences with our clients.
We have been to 115 countries, as well as to all seven continents. So far, our all-time favorite trip on land was a safari in Africa. (Ask Debra to show you the absolutely incredible picture that she took of a leopard in a tree.)
We especially love going on cruises. We have been on 110 cruises with 29 different cruise lines, including Tauck, Crystal, Seabourn, Cunard, Oceania, Silversea, Scenic, Emerald, Azamara, AmaWaterways, Viking River, Viking Ocean, Ponant, Windstar, Atlas, Hurtigruten, Virgin Voyages, Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, Carnival, NCL, MSC, Holland America, Princess, Costa, Club Med and others.
Our favorite cruises have been to Antarctica (penguins!), the Arctic (polar bears!), the Galapagos (blue-footed boobies!), the Christmas markets in Europe, Tahiti, the Baltic capitals, the Panama Canal, 8 weeks from Cape Town to Singapore, a 21-day cruise from South America to San Francisco, as well as a 45-day cruise from Australia/New Zealand through Asia, ending in Hong Kong. (Be sure to ask us about eating our way through the night market in Bangkok.)
Our company's name is Cruise Planners, but we do much more than just cruises. We have been to 13 different Sandals properties in the Caribbean, and our company is the #1 seller of Sandals.
We took an amazing trip to Costa Rica, where we got to see everything from the big city to volcanos to rainforest to cloud forests to beaches. We got to explore a coffee farm and learn all about coffee processing. One of the highlights was soaking in the hot springs at the spectacular Tabacon Resort. We saw beautiful waterfalls, hanging bridges, a butterfly garden, an amazing hummingbird garden and a sloth sanctuary. We also saw macaws, frogs, pumas, jaguars, a bat falcon, howler monkeys, herons, egrets, osprey, cayman, toucans, iguanas, and lots of coati (Debra's favorite). We absolutely loved Costa Rica and we even looked at a condo on Tamarindo Beach as a possible vacation home.
After an unfortunate 17-month break from cruising due to covid, we were very excited to join the NCL Encore for NCL's inaugural return to sailing cruise in August 2021 to Alaska. One of the highlights of the trip, besides being back on a cruise ship, was seeing a mama black bear with her two cubs in Ketchikan. She showed them how to forage for berries, then how to climb a tree, then she took them down to the river and showed them how to fish... all right in front of us!
Carnival then invited us to join them- first on the brand new Carnival Mardi Gras for a sailing to the Caribbean from Port Canaveral. The Mardi Gras has street food: delicious quick bites served in a food-truck style. The menu changed every day and it was a great place for a midday snack. Then, we crossed back over to the West Coast and did a Mexican Riviera cruise on the Carnival Panorama. (We always enjoy this itinerary, as it stops in Cabo and we get to stop by our house!)
We then had a Yacht Club suite for a Western Caribbean sailing on the beautiful MSC Meraviglia in October 2021, then a Penthouse Suite on the spectacular SIX STAR Crystal Serenity, then two back-to-back Caribbean sailings on the brand new adults only Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady, then a Bahamas itinerary on the Rotterdam (a brand new ship from Holland America).
In November of 2021, we went to Europe and did three great itineraries: the Colors of Provence- Christmastime river cruise with AmaWaterways, Paris and the Heart of Normandy with Viking and the Christmas Markets on the Rhine river cruise with AmaWaterways. We loved being in Europe for Christmas and seeing all of the various Christmas markets!
We were then home in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico for a short time.
Windstar then invited us to sail with them on their Dreams of Tahiti itinerary on the beautiful Star Breeze in February 2022. We loved it so much that we stayed onboard and did the same exact itinerary again!
We then cruised the California coast on the Majestic Princess in March 2022.
Our bucket list trip to Ecuador to explore the amazing beauty of the Galapagos in March 2022 was simply INCREDIBLE. We cruised with Celebrity on an expedition vessel, which is a great way to go. We were hoping just to see penguins, but we actually got to swim with penguins! Oh, and those blue-footed boobies are absolutely spectacular!
On our way home from the Galapagos, we stopped in Miami to do a cruise to the Bahamas on the Celebrity Summit and then up to Port Canaveral for a cruise with Royal Caribbean on their Independence of the Seas.
We then spent the summer in Europe, with additional river cruises, starting in May 2022 with a 15-day Grand European Tour from Amsterdam to Budapest with Viking Cruises, as well as a cruise on the Rhine with AmaWaterways in June 2022, where we were honored to get to see the Passion Play of Christ in Oberammergau - which only happens once every ten years- and we were there for it! We also ate our way through Italy and France while on a Costa cruise from Savona to Palermo.
Then, we were back on Windstar for their Souks and Sherries itinerary from Barcelona, through the Strait of Gibraltar, to Casablanca, ending in Lisbon. If you've never been to the Algarve, you MUST go!
After that, we flew to Germany and joined Cunard for a cruise to England on the Queen Victoria.
Oh, and if you haven't been to Iceland yet, you may want to consider adding it to your list. (We love Iceland so much that anytime we fly or cruise to Europe, we try to route through Iceland!) We took a group on two back-to-back sailings from Southampton to Iceland and then from Iceland to Norway with NCL in July 2022.
We were then honored to have been invited to the inaugural sailing of the brand-new Norwegian Prima, so we headed back to Iceland in August. The ship is really beautiful and NCL went all-out for the inaugural party. We had concerts from Katy Perry (the ship's godmother), Kool & the Gang and Chaka Khan!
We then flew to Bordeaux and spent a week on the luxurious Scenic Diamond drinking wine in France and riding bicycles through the vineyards.
We then flew to Copenhagen to re-join the Norwegian Prima on September 13th, and we disembarked six weeks later in Galveston, Texas on October 27th. We went from Denmark to Norway/the Netherlands/Belgium/France and England, then crossed the Atlantic from England to Scotland/Iceland and Canada to New York. Then, from New York to Bermuda for the New York inaugural sailing, then through the beautiful ABC islands to Texas.
In November, we went to Florida for our annual Cruise Planners convention and then back on the Norwegian Prima for the Miami inaugural sailing.
In December 2022, we went back to Kenya, one of our favorite places on Earth, for another safari. Then we went on an AMAZING trek through the mountains with the gorillas in Rwanda, and we visited the golden monkeys.
Our phenomenal 81-day cruise from February-May 2020 on the Norwegian Spirit from Rome to Dubai to Cape Town to Singapore to Hong Kong to Tokyo, with lots of very interesting stops like Jordan, Oman, Israel, Egypt, Madagascar, Mauritius, Phuket, Malaysia, Reunion, the Seychelles and many others had been disrupted due to the covid outbreak. (It's not every day that you can say you got stuck at sea for 17 days on a cruise ship off the coast of Africa!) So, we went back in January 2023 to make up some of the lost ports in on a 30-day adventure around South Africa and then from Cape Town to Dubai on the NCL Jade.
In February, we went back to Portugal for a cruise to the Canary Islands. (We are in LOVE with Portugal!)
March brought us back to Budapest for the annual ASTA river cruise EXPO.
We then visited our 7th continent in March of 2023: ANTARCTICA! Debra absolutely LOVES penguins and she really enjoyed seeing them in their natural habitat. We got to go camping overnight on land, and the polar plunge was COLD, but INCREDIBLE!
For Tony's birthday in May 2023, we took a group on a cruise from New York to Southampton. We then flew to Porto, Portugal to drink port wine and we did a cruise along the Douro. After that, we flew to Haifa, where we joined the Seabourn Encore for a Cruise Planners Top Producers reward cruise through Greece and Turkey to Athens.
We then went back to The Big Apple for another cruise, this time out of the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal with MSC. Then, Club Med invited us down to the Dominican Republic to check out their beautiful Miches Playa Esmeralda resort. From there, we flew to Croatia, where we boarded a private yacht for a week sailing from Dubrovnik to Split. From there, we went back to Alaska on the NCL Encore for a Seminar at Sea to enhance our knowledge and training about Alaska and NCL.
In July, we went down to Ixtapa, Mexico for another Club Med experience. Then, we went back to Florida for some training at our Cruise Planners home office. From there, we went to Sandals in St Lucia for six nights to explore that beautiful area of the Caribbean.
In August, we went on a polar bear expedition in the Arctic with Atlas Ocean Voyages. When do you ever get to see a polar bear that is not in a zoo? It was AMAZING!
In September, we ventured up to Vancouver for another cruise to Alaska (this time with Princess). Then, we crossed the country to another part of Canada for a beautiful fall colors Canada-New England sailing from Quebec to Boston.
Then, we flew to Rome for a cruise to Lisbon on the brand new Norwegian Viva. We then stayed onboard for the transatlantic sailing, where we disembarked and headed over to Ft Lauderdale for our annual Cruise Planners convention. We were then invited on the inaugural sailing of the Celebrity Ascent in Miami. We then flew down to Puerto Rico for a Caribbean sailing with Silversea. Then, we flew over to St Maarten for another cruise with Crystal to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Then, we went back to St Maarten to sail the Club Med 2 to Guadeloupe. (Alot of folks don't even know that Club Med has a sailing yacht!) We then spent Christmas at the Club Med in Guadeloupe, and we rounded-out the year at our home in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
To start off 2024, we were invited to Miami for the inaugural sailing of Royal Caribbean's newest ship, the Icon, which was fantastic. Then, we went back to Buenos Aires to explore Antarctica again for two weeks with NCL. (More penguins!) Then, we went to Norway for a fabulous itinerary: "In Search of the Northern Lights" with Viking Ocean. (If you've never seen The Lights, then we highly recommend this incredible itinerary!)
We then went to Amsterdam for a travel convention, where we got to spend four nights with Tauck. From there, we flew to Cape Town for a fabulous 21-day cruise up the west coast of Africa to Barcelona. We then went back to the Yacht Club on MSC for a week-long cruise out of Barcelona. After that, we took the train over to San Sebastian to walk a bit of the Camino. Then, we headed back to Svalbard in May to spend some more time exploring Norway with Hurtigruten.
We then cruised the Rhine and the Danube with Viking. After that, we went back to Longyearbyen for another polar bear expedition in Norway, this time with Ponant. Our next stop was Burgundy and Provence for a week with Uniworld. We wrapped up the summer with a fantastic cruise around the Hawaiian islands with NCL.
In the fall of 2024, we explored Canada and New England with NCL. We then flew to Athens to host a group of 53 folks on a cruise around the Med with Azamara. From there, we went back to Budapest for a 14-night cruise with Tauck to Amsterdam. We then got to experience the brand new Sun Princess for her inaugural sailing out of Miami. (Be sure to make reservations for the fabulous LOVE by Britto restaurant. It's an INCREDIBLE dining experience!)
From there, we flew to China for a 19-day combination cruise/land tour including a visit to the research base of giant panda breeding in Chengdu as well as the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, the Terra Cotta Warriors, and a Taoist Temple. This trip also included a bucket list trip to Tibet, where we went to the Potala Palace, which was home to the Dalai Lama until 1959, and to the Sera monastery (an important center of Buddhism).
Then, we went from China to Las Vegas for a travel industry convention.
We then headed home to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico for a bit of R&R in December 2024 before we flew to South Africa for an 8-week cruise with NCL from Cape Town to Mauritius to Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, the Philippines, Taiwan and Japan. That was an EPIC itinerary!
We had a short gap in our cruise schedule in February 2025, so we spent a few days at our house in Oregon, and then went home to Cabo for about a week.
In March, we went to Germany and Austria for a travel industry convention and a few river cruises: Vilshofen to Vienna with Tauck, and then Vienna to Budapest to Bucharest with AmaWaterways.
From Romania, we flew to England for the inaugural transatlantic sailing of NCL's newest ship, the Norwegian Aqua. That cruise ended in New York, and we got to stay on board for the ship's American inaugural celebration. We then flew to Miami for the inaugural celebration of MSC's newest ship, the World America. (We LOVE getting invited to these types of VIP inaugural events!)
In May, we went back to Japan, and we got to do the "Mario Karts", which is a real-life go-kart tour, where we dressed up in costume and drove through the streets of Tokyo. Tons of fun! We then did an 8-night cruise on the Diamond Princess around Japan and Taiwan, which was another Top Producers rewards trip. Then, we went Sandals in Curacao for some training.
We are very excited to go to Alaska in June with Holland America to explore the Yukon.
In July, we head back to Alaska to do a deeper dive into some of the more remote areas of Alaska with HX, which is the expedition branch of Hurtigruten.
We will then be heading to Scottsdale for a very exclusive luxury sales conference that only a small number of top producers in the US get to attend. From there, we will fly to the Dominican Republic for another conference in Punta Cana.
In August and September, we will be in Egypt, where we are doing three cruises with three different companies so that we can tell our clients the differences based upon our firsthand experiences.
October will take us Florida for our annual Cruise Planners convention, and then a cruise with Royal Caribbean on the Wonder of the Seas, and another cruise on MSC's World America, before we go to Boston for an epic wedding celebration for some of our dear friends.
In November, we will be heading to Hawaii for two back-to-back cruises on NCL's Pride of America around the Hawaiian Islands, and we will then be spending Christmas with our toes in the sand at our timeshare in Maui.

We also LOVE to scuba dive. In addition to traditional dives in locations such as Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean, our scuba adventures have taken us to:
*Dubai, where we dove in the giant aquarium at The Atlantis.
*Scotland, where we dove the historic Scapa Flow.
*Maui, where we hunted for lobster at night alongside moray eels. (Catching a lobster with your bare hands and then cooking it for dinner an hour later is AWESOME!)
*The Big Island, Hawaii, where we sat on the bottom of the ocean holding a flashlight at night and waited for the giant manta rays to come in to feed. It was both exhilarating and magical at the same time. (When the first one swoops over your head in the darkness, it is absolutely shocking to see how big they are!)
*Key West, where we explored a sunken American spy vessel that had been used to surveil Russia and Cuba during the Cold War.
*New Zealand, where we spontaneously joined a wine tasting picnic with a group of senior citizens at the dock after our dive.
*The Great Barrier Reef in Australia, where a huge Maori Wrasse named Wally followed us around like a puppy dog.
*Cambodia, where the locals provided us with a delicious sampling of the local cuisine for lunch in between dives.
*Bali, where the colors of everything are bright and stunningly beautiful.
*Italy, where we found unexploded World War II ordnance.
*Fiji, where we encountered aggressive bull sharks.
*The Bahamas, where we watched the feeding of a group 25-30 Caribbean reef sharks.
*Malta, where we dove at The Azure Window, which was the backdrop for a wedding scene on "The Game of Thrones".
*Iceland, the one place in the world where you can touch two techtonic plates underwater.
*Greece, where the waters are every shade of blue.
*Cuba, where we stumbled upon an American attack vessel that was sunk during the Bay of Pigs.
*Bimini, where there is a ship that sank in a storm over 100 years ago and they later used it as a storage location for rum running between the American bootleggers and the Caribbean rum manufacturers. We also had an amazing shark cage experience.
*Tortola, where we got to dive the RMS Rhone, a ship that wrecked in 1867.
*St Thomas, USVI, where we did a wreck dive at an old hospital ship.
*Tahiti, where we saw giant clams of every color of the rainbow.
*Philippines, where we dove through an old fishing vessel in Boracay as well as Barracuda Lake in Palawan.
*Oregon, with fresh water high altitude lakes and opportunities to help the environment through swift water river clean ups.
*We also enjoyed diving with Sandals in Jamaica, Antigua, the Bahamas, St Lucia, and Curacao, where you get to do unlimited scuba diving during your stay. In Antigua, a school of about 15 dolphins swam right up to us and checked us out. It was an incredible experience! And, the water in Curacao is so clear that it feels like you are swimming in an aquarium.
In addition to our personal travels, we regularly attend travel conferences, seminars and webinars in order to keep up-to-date in regard to what's happening in the travel industry.

Met Debra on our “Cruise to Nowhere” as we bobbed for 2 weeks in the Indian Ocean, safe from Covid, but unwelcome in any ports.
As NCL offered up options for future cruises, we had Debra assist.

I was looking to book a cruise for me and my sisters. I have always just done my own bookings, but this trip was going to be a bit more complicated so I decided that I would look for a travel agent, one that specializes in cruises. I found Debra and what a find it was.

I recently met Debra and Tony Thune on a cruise. Debra, Tony and I have all worked in law enforcement. Prior to boarding our ship, we just started talking with them and clicked right away. Throughout the cruise, we would keep bumping into Debra and Tony and would chat or would schedule some meals together. I found them to be very energetic and very personable.
During the cruise, Debra and Tony would meet with their clients to update them about issues with the itinerary and to talk about future cruises. Because of the relationship we had developed, they invited us to attend. During our cruise, we developed an issue that our agent was unable to resolve. Debra guided us through the issue. At that time, we decided to book current and future cruises with Debra and Tony.
Since sailing together, we have booked four cruises through them. Their pricing is better than what we had been able to obtain and, in one instance, they saved us $1,000.00 on a booking.
We have booked an additional three cruises with them.
Debra told us in the beginning she checks prices daily and will pass the savings along. We are so satisfied with their service that we have mentioned them to friends and they have booked future cruises with them.
Debra is also very knowledgeable about travel insurance and has helped us book it for our future cruises. She also even helped get us a refund for cruises that were cancelled prior to sailing.
