Have been on various trips planned by Cruise Planners
and all of the destinations were excellent.
Mike is the best! He has booked a total of 10 cruises for us and our friends. He goes the extra mile to take care of his clients. I will only use Cruise Planners for our cruising needs.
Thank you so much Mike Kullenburg for your help in planning our last cruise and our future cruise!!!!! We will definitely call upon you again!!!!- Angelia B.
Mike Kullenberg is the best! He misses NO detail and helps to plan a trip down to the last detail. The only way he could do more is if he packed my suitcase for me... LOL!- Robert H.
Fun time. Will
Definitely use Mike and Dee again. Great communication and very helpful- julie S.
Mike is awesome! He takes care of every detail you can imagine and especially the ones you don't!- Robert H.
We want to take the opportunity to express our gratitude in your planning of our Princess Land and Sea Cruise. Not only did you have every stop taken care of, you were ready to meet my worries.
The beauty of Alaska is amazing. The Princess cruise ship is just the right size for us. Not as big as Norwegian and not as small as Viking. You have now spoiled us on room size! Not sure how you snagged us a room with separate living area and full size shower/tub!
The only change I would make or recommend to others, increases to more days on land as the changing each night is tough. Most of our fellows cruiser said the same thing.
Also, thank you for the very special breakfast. It was delightful!- Sherry S.
Mike thinks of EVERY DETAIL! He did a fabulous job in booking our cruise, helping us find parking at the port, book excursions, and made our trip AMAZING with gifts on-board! We really enjoy working with him!!!
We had a great time
Mike at Cruise Planners is great to work with. He will handle everything and check on you along the way. He has a great deal of knowledge on traveling the world- Charles M.
Garrett and I approached Mike about planning a trip to celebrate my 50th birthday party only a month out.
He gave us many amazing options, and with his help, felt that the Norwegian Escape to Bermuda would best suit our expectations.
Mike really listened to what was important to us, and helped us narrow our focus and decide on, what was for us, a big investment.
I usually do all of my own travel planning, so to put the planning in someone else's hands was nerve racking, at first. However, I quickly realized that Mike was VERY experienced, and he came up with ideas and bookings that WAY surpassed my ideas. Yay!- Kristin B.
Super, Mike. Thanks for being our Staples Easy Button!- Rick R.
Perfect. You are an awesome travel agent…- Donna T.
Great people to work with and will plan everything needed for a great vacation- Michael B.
Thanks for the info and planning on the Great Alaskan Getaway!! Fantastic trip!!!- Harold C.
Fantastic cruise! Left out of Jacksonville, had a sea day the first day, then visited Nassau, Bahamas. The third day was at Half Moon Cay, which is a must visit. That's the most beautiful place on earth. We had another sea day, then returned to Jacksonville.
Mike Kullenberg was a fantastic travel agent. He helped me every step of the way and stayed in close contact to make sure I had everything I needed.- Joe L.
I have titled this Testimonial to help get the attention of anyone thinking they don't need a Travel Agent. In my humble opinion, if we did not have Mike and Deedee as our Travel Agents, our trip on the Crown Princess would have ended in Atlanta.
My wife found a wonderful last minute deal on Princess for an 8 day cruise that started on December 9 and returned on December 17, out of Ft. Lauderdale. She placed a hold on the cruise with Princess and the next day I called Mike so he could complete the booking. Had to smile when Mike called me back and said he was on a cruise ship on the way to Havana. No worries, Princess held the booking until Mike and Deedee returned home a few days later.
We had Mike book our air through Princess EZair departing Columbia, SC the day before the cruise was to depart. (Side note: Always go the day before the ship leaves!) So on the morning of December 8th, my wife and I are on the 8:30 am Delta flight to Atlanta. So far so good. About 10:00 am, we start to see a little snow start to fall. How nice it will be for us to leave the cold overcast sky in Atlanta and arrive in Ft. Lauderdale to 80 degree weather in about 3 hours.
It was not ment to be. Snow really started to come down around 11:00 am, about the time when we were supposed to board our flight. Gate agent made the announcement that one of the Flight Attendants was late arriving on another flight. As soon as they were on board, the flight would start boarding and we would be on our way. Now I am looking outside and the snow is starting to stick on the engines of our plane and any object made of metal. I told my wife this is not good.
Our plane was supposed to depart Atlanta at 11:30 am. We did not get on board until after 12 PM. At 12:15 PM, the Captain announces that with the snow coming down and covering the plane, we will need to go to the de-ice pad before take-off. Only problem is, the airport is only letting planes that are going North and West go to the de-ice pad. The Captain hopes to get to the pad at 2:00 PM. At 1:50 PM, Captain tells us we have been pushed back to at least 3:45 PM for the de-ice pad. Great!
Now it is 4:00 PM, we have been sitting on the plane for over 3 hours. The Captain decides to have everyone get off and get something to eat and re-board in the next 45 minutes. We finally get on board at 5:00 PM, get pushed back from the gate and on the way to the de-ice pad. What a great feeling to have the plane move!!!! So, we get in line and wait. We wait for 30 minutes on a taxiway and don't move. At 5:40 PM, the Captain tells us there are 9 aircraft ahead of us for the de-ice pad and it takes about 20 minutes per plane to get all the ice and snow off. He tells us that if we don't depart by 6:07 PM, the flight crew will not have enough duty time left to make it to Ft. Lauderdale. Do the math, 9 plane x 20 minutes, that is 2 hours until we get on the pad!!!!!
5 minutes later, we take a left turn and head back to the gate. Now the fun really starts. When everyone if finally off the plane and standing around the boarding area, some screaming at the flight crew and other screaming at the gate agents, Delta announces that the flight is not yet cancelled. It is now a little after 6:00 PM. We are not the only flight delayed leaving Atlanta. The lines to Delta Customer Service are 300 people long and not moving. We had waited in line to see if we could get another flight. No luck after 45 minutes in line, we gave up. Delta finally cancelled our flight a little after 7:00 PM.
Now, here is why having a great Travel Agent comes into play. I had been chatting with Mike Kullenberg through out the day with updates on our lack of progress. Mike had started looking for options the minute we pulled back into the gate at 6:00 PM. There were a few flights leaving later in the evening, but everything going South was booked. His next thought was getting us a one-way rental car from Atlanta to drop off in Ft. Lauderdale. I believe he tried every agency at the Atlanta airport for 25 minutes. Finally found us a car at Dollar.
We were told by the Delta gate agents to go to the Delta Baggage Customer service desk at baggage claim to arrange for our luggage to be taken off the plane. Waited in another 45 minute line only to be told that it will take over 2 and a half hours to get our luggage off the plane and this is only an estimate. Wow, great news! It is now 7:45 PM and I call Dollar Rent A Car to confirm that we have a car reserved and the operator says yes. We decide to head to the Rental Car area and get the car. We get on the tram and arrive at Dollar at 8:05 PM and are number 2 in line. An agent comes out of the back office and asks if anyone in line has a one-way rental. The two of us at the head of the line raise our hands. She tells us all that she can not honor our one-way rental.
Ok, we are tired, hungry and now about to panic. The Dollar desk shuts down and the employee's leave. Kim and I both are looking at each other thinking we are done. No other options to get to Florida in time for the cruise. Dollar is also part of Thrifty Rental car and their service desk is right next door. There is one agent at the counter with a red stocking cap on that looks at me and Kim and motions us to his station. He had heard what was going on and asked me for my reservation number. He was able to look up the reservation # and 15 minutes later we have a car!!!! The agent says to go to the rental kiosk and pick out a car with a regular key, not one with auto start. Pick out the car, lock it and take the keys. When we get down to the parking area, there are two cars left in the entire lot to choose from. We picked the Kia Soul, took the keys and locked the car. Now back to the terminal to get our luggage.
We went back to the baggage area and waited with the other hundreds of passengers waiting for luggage. After another hour, I went to one of the agents and had them scan our luggage tags and confirmed our luggage was scheduled to be taken off the plane. I was about to walk away when I heard one gentlemen say he had been waiting over 6 hours for his luggage. Oh no! We waited until midnight and as the luggage handlers were taking all of the unclaimed luggage to storage and our bags had not come out, we sadly decided to get the rental car and get on the road.
Left Alanta at 12:30 am and headed down I-75, onto the Florida turnpike and stopped for breakfast at 8:30 am at I-95. Both of us were really down about having to spend $411.00 for the rental car and no clothes but what we were wearing. I get a call from Mike with some good news. He had been on the phone working with Princess and Delta tracking our bags. Some how, our two carry on's were at the Ft. Lauderdale airport in bagage claim and the two big suite cases were still in Atlanta. Mike had arranged for the Atlanta bags to be shipped to our first port of call, St. Kitts which we would arrive on December 12, 4 days from now.
Way to go Mike! Feeling a little better, we arrived in Ft. Lauderdale around noon, went to Khols and bought clothes. We looked like game show contestants running around the store trying to find underwear, socks, shoes, slacks, shirts and a suite case to carry everything in. $675 later, we headed to turn the car in. Now we have been up 31 hours with no sleep and little food. When I pulled into the garage and the young man inspects the car and prints out our bill, he tells me we owe $57. I look at him and question why do we owe another $57 after the folks in Atlanta hit my credit card for $411. He wrote a note on the contract and said to go inside to the front counter and see a supervisor. I am about to loose it! The supervisor takes my contract, enters the info into her computer as I keep asking why we owe more money. She looks at me, smiles and says "Mr. Thomas, all you owe for the rental is $57 total." I look at her and say this would be a great time for me to shut up. She nods her head and we leave. $57 plus gas, nice!!!
We took the shuttle to Delta baggage claim and see our two carry-on's in a pile of unclaimed luggage. Get the bags and wait in another non-moving line to see if our luggage from Atlanta will be sent to St. Kitts. After waiting another 45 minutes and no movement, we give up and take a taxi to the ship. We arrive at check-in around about 2:20 PM. Wow! No lines, no waiting. After filling out the health card, we were given our sail cards and in our cabin by 2:35 PM! WHEW!!!
Called Mike from our stateroom to tell him we were on the ship and to thank him for working so hard to get us and our luggage to the boat. He had already followed up with Delta and confirmed again our big luggage should arrive in St. Kits.
Cruise was now on! We did not leave port until almost an hour past departure time. A lot of folks had been delayed due to the snow storm in Atlanta. Great cruise, the Crown Princess was great, crew was great, food was great, cabin steward (Ernesto) was outstanding and we had fun in each port.
Our luggage did arrive around 9:00 PM in St. Kitts. Thanks MIKE! On the return, we had another adventure due to the fire at the Atlanta airport. Our flight was finally cancelled at 6:30 PM on December 17th and we arrived home in another one way rental at 3:00 am on December 18th.
All I can say is a big THANK YOU to Mike and Deedee Kullenberg, Cruise Planners agents!!! Your help in dealing with Delta, Princess and rental car agencies helped us deal with a very stressful time. I urge everyone traveling on a vacation to let a Professional agent help plan and book your travel. Our agents got it done when folks at the Atlanta airport had no clue or could not do anything. Cell service was jammed, wi-fi jammed and long lines that never moved. Mike and Deedee really have AWESOME CRUISITUDE!
Next trip booked with Mike and Deedee is August 2018. Caribbean Princess.
Warmest Regards,
Kim and Doug Thomas
