Egg Island

Egg Island is an uninhabited island, officially an islet, in the Bahamas. The island has become home to chickens owned by residents of other nearby islands who travel here to collect the eggs. Hence the name, Egg Island. The island has a crescent shaped beach that is protected by a reef that protects the entire beach. The water behind the reef is generally less than 6 feet deep making it a good place to swim or watch the sea life. Since the water is so shallow and well protected, it tends to be warmer then the surrounding sea.

Eleuthera Island

Three hundred years ago a small band of English pilgrims, seeking religious freedom, landed on this island and gave it the ethereal name, Eleuthera, which means "Freedom" in Greek. The name seems to be as apt today as it was then. Eleuthera, delivers on its initial promise by bestowing its gifts upon the lucky who've stumbled upon it, or the smart who know to go there. Miles of glistening pink and white sand beaches, serene colonial villages, and the rolling acres of pineapple plantations make Eleuthera an island of the most casual sophistication. The cool laziness of Eleutherean life and dusty-yet-drenched colors of the island give it the feel of a giant illusion; it seems to have a kind of unbounded air of calm and grace. With its two companions, Harbour Island and Spanish Wells, Eleuthera has long been a favored destination among smart travelers seeking a bit of quiet charm.

Great Bahama Bank

Great Bahama Bank is a platform located in the western Atlantic Ocean which was inundated by rising sea-level as the great continental glaciers of the last ice age melted. The platform varies in depth from 25 m to areas which are barely awash and provides a unique opportunity to examine the effects of rising sea-level on relatively short geologic time scales (several thousand years).
